Ups and Downs

Life has ups and downs, that is for sure. This weekend in particular, a concentration of both wonderful ups, and horrific downs, demonstrates the more ephemeral qualities of life and only proves that we should enjoy take great joy in whatever ups we have. The downs are not far behind.

To get less metaphorical, and more literal, I enjoyed lots of ups and downs on Friday in the form of bouncing at a local trampoline park with my two barn buddies. If you have ever wanted to have a fun workout, go try one of these. I have to say that my heart was pounding faster after 5 minutes of this than it has on cross country in a long time! And that is saying something! For your viewing hilarity, watch me attempt to do a flip for the first time in ages:

Saturday was a bit less joyful. Tyler and I received a scary phone call regarding his father, and spent the day in the hospital. Unfortunately, things remain in a pretty scary state and I ask you all to pray for him and the family.

Beyond this, I got some much needed equine therapy, and we both tried to watch the Super Bowl, but found we could not really enjoy ourselves with so much weighing on our hearts.

Without sounding like too much like Negative Nancy, the coming week looks gray. Again, literally with a forecast of 4 days of rain, and metaphorically in the questions regarding our loved ones.

I’ll leave you with a verse that brings me some peace at the moment, and hope it does the same for you.

Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

  1. I noticed things didn’t quite seem okay at the party. Thinking of you guys & Tyler’s father too. Let us know if you need anything – happy to watch over the animals if needed!
